No accounts, no database of your maps. Short version: your maps stay in your browser.
What stays in your browser
Maps you make, travel lists and your best quiz scores are saved in your browser's local storage so they're there when you come back. They never leave your device unless you choose to export a file or copy a share link (a share link contains the map itself, encoded in the URL after the # sign, which browsers don't send to servers).
The Ask AI feature
If you press "Paint it" in the Ask AI tab, the text you typed and the name of the selected map are sent to our server and on to an AI model through Vercel's AI Gateway to generate the map. We don't store the requests. Don't include personal information in that box. Every other feature runs entirely in your browser.
Analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless and doesn't track you across sites.
Map data
Boundaries come from Natural Earth (public domain) and US Census Bureau cartographic boundaries via the us-atlas project. Borders show de facto control and do not imply any position on disputed territory.
