How to play
The quiz covers all 50 states in random order. Tap the right state: green means first try, yellow means found on a retry, red means missed. Use + or pinch to zoom into crowded areas.
Tips
- Start with the big anchor states (Texas, California, Montana), then work through the neighbours.
- New England is tiny on a phone: zoom with + or pinch before you tap.
- Learn the "Four Corners" (Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona) as one block.
- Struggling with the Midwest? Iowa sits between the Mississippi and the Missouri rivers; Missouri is directly south of it.

Questions
How is the quiz scored?
Only a first-try answer counts as correct. After two misses you get a hint (two neighbours); after three the answer is shown in red. Your best percentage is saved in this browser only.
What is the hardest part of a US states quiz?
Most people mix up the small Northeastern states (Vermont and New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island) and the square-ish Plains and Mountain states (Wyoming and Colorado, North and South Dakota, Kansas and Nebraska).
Is Washington, D.C. in the quiz?
No. D.C. is a federal district, not a state, so the quiz asks for the 50 states only.
Can I print a blank map to practise?
Yes: download the blank US map PDF, or the labelled version as an answer key.
